By-Election Information

A By-election will be held on March 19, 2025 for the Vice-President seat on the Executive Board. Voting will be held in-person at the CUPE 543 Union Hall (Located at 1576 Parent, Ave. Windsor, ON).

Participation in the election: 

  • Must be a member in good-standing
  • Must show official CUPE 543 Union Card or government issued ID

Benefits

CUPE 543.1- City of Windsor (Inside Workers)

The City of Windsor (Inside Workers) receive their fringe benefits from Green Shield. Regular & Temporary full-time employees will begin receiving their benefits after their 90 day probationary period. Regular & Temporary  part-time employees have the opportunity to share the cost of their health benefits 50%/50% with the City of Windsor. (See article 20.13 in the 2022-2024 Collective Agreement for Regular Full-time & Part-time details), (See Article 12.08(g) for information on Temporary Employees Benefits).

 

CUPE 543.3- Windsor-Essex County Health Unit

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is provided with their fringe benefits through Manulife. Full-time employees will receive their benefits with no additional cost, except for paying for a part of your prescriptions. (See article 19 in the active collective agreement to learn more about the fringe benefits for full-time employees). Part-time employees are eligible for fringe benefits as well, see article 19.9 for part-time employee benefits in the active collective agreement.

 

CUPE 543.4- ABC Day Nursery

ABC Day Nursery is provided with fringe benefits through Manulife. Full-time employees will receive there benefits with some additional cost, including a $2 deductible with a maximum of $7 for the fill fee.  Part-time employees are eligible for fringe benefits, the hours worked will be pro-rated. Please ask your employer for more information as this is a new fringe benefits package that is not in the active collective agreement.
